AudioReader

macOS and iPadOS

Listen. Follow the words. Keep them.

AudioReader is a local-first audiobook study app for language learners. Play the book, read what was spoken, save vocabulary with its original sentence, and review without leaving the passage.

Local-first on Mac and iPad

Imported audiobooks, EPUBs, covers, and on-device transcription stay on this device. You can use AudioReader without an account. An optional first-party email sign-in is available when you want learning data on more than one device.

Audiobooks and ebooks stay separate

Audiobooks and ebooks are exclusive kinds. A folder that contains both audio and an EPUB imports as two books. There is no companion attach and no mixing of spoken audio with published EPUB text.

Library collections for audiobooks and ebooks.

Study from the original sentence

On-device SpeechAnalyzer transcription times the words you hear. Save a word with its sentence, book, chapter, and timestamp. Play the sentence clip. Review in a due-first queue that still uses the original narration.

A saved vocabulary card with the original sentence and a play control.

Optional account, sync, and AI

Email OTP is optional. Sync copies learning records when you turn it on. Transcripts upload only with your grant, signed-in sync, and a server that offers the feature. AI is optional after versioned consent. There is no paid unlock and no native social login.
